The Rue des Martyrs is in the "Parisians' Paris". It is alive with a wonderful selection of specialty shops, selling all the good things that will make your stay in this Paris apartment a really French experience! Within five minutes walk you can reach the Gustave Moreau and the 'Vie Romantique' museums, five minutes more and you are at the Palais Garnier opera. A short metro ride will take you directly to Montmartre and the Sacre Coeur, the Musee d'Orsay, Montparnasse, and the Quartier Latin.
From your front door you can hop on a bus and pass the banks of the Seine and the Ile St. Louis, via the Palais Royal! The flower shop opposite the building carpets the sidewalk with colorful blooms all year round.
Push open the heavy street door and you find yourself in a delightful, cobbled courtyard, protected from the sounds of the street. Large windows overlook the courtyard and take advantage of the summer sun. With some 650 sq. ft. this apartment has plenty of charm; furnished as the owners' winter residence with an eclectic mix of old and new, polished parquet floors, and shutters rather than curtains.
A cupboard-lined hall leads to the dining room with an antique dining table, then to the cozy sitting room with ancient leather arm chairs, and a comfortable sofa. Off the sitting room is the bedroom, with a double bed, and alternative access via a passage. There is a simple but well-equipped kitchen with a washing machine. The nice, old fashioned bathroom has a tub and shower attachment; the toilet is separate.
Parking is possible in the courtyard, but requires some delicate maneuvering!
