This is a great Air Conditioned Latin Quarter apartment around the corner from the Place Contrescarpe at the top of rue Mouffetard, just above the area famous as a fresh market street. This is the heart of the Latin Quarter, near the Sorbonne, and with roof-top views of the Pantheon, and in the distance, the Eiffel Tower. There are restaurants, bookstores, cinemas, cafes, and theatres all around this area. The fresh food street markets on rue Mouffetard and Place Monge are very close.
This 550 sq. ft. apartment is a French Duplex spread over the top two (5th and 6th) floors of a 17th century building. The apartment was completely renovated and refurnished in 2005. As in many historic areas of Paris there is no elevator but the owner will be there for your arrival and departure to help carry your luggage up and down the stairs. There are open oak ceiling beams, an exposed stone wall and an elegant spiral staircase linking the main salon room to the upstairs bedroom with its ensuite bathroom. There is no handrail so care must be taken on the spiral staircase.
In the main salon there is a comfortable double sofa bed with a real mattress, coffee table, two chairs, and bookshelf. The decoration is contemporary furniture with some art and oriental antiques. There is also a modern round glass dining table that seats four.
The large upstairs bedroom is under the roof beams and has a polished wood floor and window views in two directions. It's furnished with a queen size bed, an antique writing desk w/armchair, TV w/DVD, Stereo, phone w/fax, high speed Internet access, and air conditioning. There is a small collection of English language DVDs.
There is also a separate single mattress in the storage area that can be made up on either the upper or lower floor to sleep an extra (5th) person if needed.
The open style kitchen is fully equipped with very modern and high quality appliances. There is a combination oven/microwave, induction hotplates, dishwasher, and refrigerator.
In the bathroom there is a bathtub with wall shower, basin and toilet.
In a separate storage area just outside the entrance there is a clothes washing machine with dryer.
