Located across from the church in the centre of the exclusive Saint Louis Island between the historic Marais district on the Right bank and the Latin Quarter on the Left Bank, this one bedroom apartment is just a few minutes walk from Notre Dame Cathedral on Ile de la Cite. The apartment occupies the top two floors of a 17th Century building. Both the building and the flat retain many of their original features including �Tudor� style post and beam construction with wooden staircase, open wood beams, fireplaces, and antique communal water basins. At the same time this apartment is completely upgraded with modern comfort and safety features such as a lobby intercom and two different security Digicodes on its doors.
This apartment, full of light and very quiet, has the feel and privacy of a house and has direct views over the interior courtyard and the rue de Saint Louis en Ile which is the main street of Ile Saint Louis. It is a large (740 Sq. Ft. sleeps 4) one bedroom plus two full bathroom apartment with an unusual layout as it is distributed across 2+ floors under the roof with a private roof-top terrace (a �petit� terrace) above the interior courtyard. It consists of all of the 5th and 6th floors with the entrance between the 4th and 5th floor. Because of the narrow internal staircase the apartment might not be suitable for small children.
The 5th floor has the main social areas with a large living room with double sofa bed, armchairs, coffee table, a dining area comfortably seating 4, and a fireplace. The Cable TV has access to 80 French and international channels (CNN, BBC, RAI, ZDF, TVE, etc.) and there is a Stereo as well as DSL Wi-Fi Internet access. On the same level is a good size separate eat-in kitchen with table and chairs, that is equipped with a combination oven/microwave, dishwasher, toaster, electric kettle and coffee maker. In both the kitchen and the living room the original �tomettes� (small antique hexagonal terracotta tiles) floors were preserved. This main level also has a bathroom with bathtub with hand shower and a toilet in a separate enclosure.
The top floor has a very spacious bedroom with Queen bed with high ceilings under the roof, another fireplace, a small desk with chair, a second bathroom, and a small private terrace with views over the roofs. Located between the two floors is another, second, bathroom with a bathtub with shower, toilet in a separate enclosure, and a laundry area with a clothes washing machine (but no dryer).
